Today, I wanted to finally reveal a piece I've been quietly working on for some time. If you're a doctor dealing with massive amounts of data from longevity testing and wearables, you've probably been demoing a suite of data platforms. If you are a startup working on this problem - you should be in the article! Either way, I hope this piece helps you.

Spoiler alert - I don't think there's a perfect solution (yet). But I'm highly encouraged by all the longevity-focused, AI-first solutions out there. It's an exciting time to be in longevity medicine!

The Top 8 Longevity and Concierge Medicine Health Data Management Platforms

Big data has long been a hot phrase in healthcare. The general consensus is that the bigger the data, the better. It’s logical - there have been billions of healthcare interactions since the beginning of electronic medical record-keeping. One would reasonably expect that with more information, we’d have more knowledge to work with. And now with AI, we’re finally able to sort through all that data to (theoretically) have all the answers!

But when AI in the form of IBM Watson was unleashed on MSKCC’s medical records, we didn’t magically figure out the cure to cancer. We really didn’t make much of a dent in improving oncologic care. Even Flatiron Health, one of the greatest healthtech successes to date, failed to make much of an impact for its acquirer, Roche (which reportedly is divesting the real-world evidence company, six years post-acquisition). Users have stated that the main reason was “Garbage in, garbage out.” Most clinicians would say we document mainly because we “have” to, and that often results in dot phrases and copy-forwards with a legacy of garbage information. And unfortunately, this problem is likely to only get worse in the age of generative AI (which creates excess documentation for medical liability reasons).
